Our Project
Music 2 My Eyes is a music visualization project that uses signal processing techniques to extract a song’s primary tempo and pitch for display on an LED lighting strip. Our project has two visualization modes, Beat Detection and Melody Detection. In our beat detection mode the LED strip pulses to the beat of the music, while our melody detection mode shows the relative frequency of the notes by adjusting the brightness of the LEDs. To perform these detection computations we used several DSP Tools on MATLAB. For more information about how we implemented the actual LEDs from our processed signals see our LED Integration section. To date we have a functional Demo of what we done, and Future Prospects of future steps for this project. The overarching goal of our project is to convert the auditory aspect of music into a visual accompaniment that enhances the musical experience.
